We've finished off the latest round of releases on our components. These include some important bugfixes as well as some small steps along the road map of improvements and extra features.
If you are using the Joomla one-click upgrade system you should have been prompted to update your Mailit install. This contained a few functional bugfixes to make things tighter and work better. The plan, when Joomla 3.0 is released, is to look at revamping the look fo the Mailit admin area to make it more intuitive and make functionality such as Facebook and Twitter setup far simpler.
We've fixed a few bugs in Preachit. Most notably, we've sorted out the unique alias function that ensures that every message, series, teacher & ministry has it's own unique alias for the sefurls. Or, at least, we think we've sorted it. This version of Preachit also has some other improvements:
In addition to these changes we've also released 2 new extensions for Preachit. The first is a mediaplayer module. This will allow you to show a mediaplayer for a Preachit message anywhere on your site. It would work well on the frontpage to show the latest message or in many other uses. It also has a dynamic mode where it will use the id in a message list or single message url and show the media for that message. This opens up some possibilities on the template front giving more flexibility. The other extension is an auto podcast publish plugin. This allows you to automatically publish podcasts at set intervals and works well with the new podcast scheduler options in the message form. For now these two exensions are only available through the members' download area.
Hopefully, by the next release, Preachit should have a new ajax uploader. This will give us greater flexibility and control over the upload process and allow a wider base of devices to be able to function with it.
Because of the new way that mediaplayer code is handled in Melody and Preachit all tempaltes need to be updated. If you already have a template installed the install process should re-write the necessary lines in your code for you. It should do this without affecting any changes you have made or altering any settings. However, if you have made significant changes the update process might not be able to change every relevant instance and you may need to do this manually. All current templates have the correct way of activating the code and, by looking at the files, it should be fairly clear the line you need to add. Any questions, please ask on the forums.
